7 Key Things to Know Before Hiring In-Home Care in California
Working with the Cupertino Area Medical Community

With a population of nearly 53,000, Cupertino is a thriving young community in Silicon Valley. However, nearly 11% of Cupertino’s residents are age 65 and over. That percentage will likely increase 50% or more in the next 20 years. And over 90% of Cupertino older adults will want to receive assistance at home as they progress in years. To accommodate this wave of seniors living at home, Homecare California is rapidly expanding to serve this community with certified nurse assistants and experienced caregivers.

As a home care provider, our services go beyond the safety and comfort of our clients. We encourage our clients to take part in meaningful daily activities both in their homes and in their own communities. With the rich variety of resources and interesting activities in Cupertino and the surrounding areas, Homecare California facilitates participation each and every week.

Some local activities might include:

  • Watching a movie at "Cinema at Sundown" - a classic drive-inn theatre

  • A weekly visit to the Cupertino Library

  • Attending "Shakespeare in the Park" at Memorial Park Amphitheater

  • Touring the Blackberry Farm

  • Attending knitting classes each Tuesday

  • Attending the annual Grandparents and Grandchildren Ice Cream Social

  • Attending any of the Ballroom Dance Socials at the Senior Center

  • Attending Friday afternoon Bingo

  • Attending church services

We work closely with those clients who have recently been discharged from or living in medical and senior facilities such as Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Los Altos Sub-Acute Skilled Nursing, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. We also provide caregiving services to clients who live in local independent and assisted living residences such as Pilgrim Haven Assisted Living and St. Mary's Independent Living. Our founder, Lisa Hartwell is actively involved as a volunteer for Partners in Caring, a non-profit service for seniors at Stanford University Hospital’s Aging Adult Services.
